Opening ceremony at Pinto Art Museum

Openning ceremony hosted by the Pinto Art Museum in Antipolo, Rizal, Republic of the Philippines. The exhibition title was “Liberating the Chawan: I Am a Tea Bowl. I Am the Sea. Celebrating the Golden Age of Philippines-Japan Friendship”.
The Pinto Art Museum is said to be a sacred place for contemporary art and is the most beloved museum by the Filipino people. More than 100 distinguished guests, including the Embassy of the Japan, the Philippine Ministry of Foreign Affairs, members of Congress, and business celebrities, gathered at the opening ceremony to celebrate the beginning of a new friendship between Japan and the Philippines despite the COVID- 19.Under a special permission, Japan owned Pinatubo tenmoku tea bowl was also exhibited for friendship. This Museum mainly houses paintings by domestic artists and works of art from the collection of Dr. Joven Cuanang, a brain surgeon known as a collector and patron of artworks. He is the first person who studied at Harvard under government scholarship. This is a first time exhibited contemporary pottery art exhibited at International Museum by Pure Japanese Potter.
This historic event was also Friendship Appearance by Filipino potterswho related to Japan, Ms. Lanelle Abueva-Fernando, Mr. Pablo K. Capati III. Ms. Jezzel Wee and this exhibition was curated by Mr. Crispin S. Villanueva Jr.
