Tenmoku tea bowl using the volcanic ash of Pinatubo

At first, I thought, “I want to make a Tenmoku tea bowl using the volcanic ash of Pinatubo, and if I succeed, I wonder if I can contribute to the development of Philippine crafts industries. And if the people affected by the Pinatubo volcano have the opportunity to see or pick up the tea bowl, wouldn’t they be able to heal a little and feel a moment of peace? Hoping that I might be able to provide such a place at museums, so I went to the Philippines to collect volcanic ash on September 4th of 2018.
The volcanic ash was safely brought back to Japan, and the Pinatubo Tenmoku Tea Bowl was donated to the Embassy of Japan in the Philippines, the Pinto Art Museum, and finally to the Embassy of Philippines in Tokyo. I am grateful for support of many people. We wish in peace and prosperity of Philippines forever.
